"Women working for women in an ecological world"

KLEMYA offers consultation services in Interior Decorating, and designs ethnic home decor accessories. Our passion is to promote African Art and to design interiors that reflect the cultural diversity of the world we live in. We truly believe in ecology, empowering women, and strive to associate our values to our business. Our home decor accessories are made locally in Canada by female

seamstresses and are primarily constructed of sustainable fabrics such as linen and fair-trade African fabric; the "bogolanfini", or mud cloths traditionally made by the women of Mali. The cloth is hand woven and dyed by an age old process using local flora and mud. It has an important place in traditional Malian culture and has, more recently, become a symbol of Malian cultural identity.

K. Essome / Founder

Our interior decorator Kalinka Essome utilizes her free time scouring flea markets in search of antique furniture to begin new tradition and histories.
Always in search of influences and styles in decoration, she travels the world to discover new cultures, themes and ideas. Her greatest passion is to harmoniously combine colors and light, integrating furniture and accessories within the living space, in order to create an atmosphere that best reflects your individual personality.
As an Afro-European living in North America, she is inspired by her dual culture, as well as the cultural mix that surrounds her.  She uses these and other strengths to create original spaces that combine European elegance and refinement, enhanced by the richness of African and Asian crafts.  Her favorite style is eclectic and ethnic, however, she appreciates all varieties of decoration and is always up for a new challenge.
